The Ninth ODC International forum for young marine scientists focusing on Ocean-Atmosphere Interactions in Modulating Regional Climate Extremes and Variability was successfully accomplished in the afternoon of 29 October 2024. We had 5 young scholars sharing their research progress, and totally 38 young marine scientists participating the forum.
Dr. KYAW Than Oo ,as the first speaker from Myanmar, shared the topic about Role Of AI In Marine And Oceanography Science. He discussed the potential artificial intelligence (AI),which can be used to address challenges in ocean science and climate change, such as temperature data analysis, data collection from satellites and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), etc.
Mr. KYAW Than Oo
Dr. Tharana Inu Laksith, as the second speaker from Sri Lanka, shared the report about Study of the Marine Mammal Habitats under the Changing Oceanic Conditions off the Coasts of North-western Sri Lanka. Participants and the speakers discussed the urgent need for conservation efforts to safeguard these habitats due to changing climate conditions.
Dr. Tharana Inu Laksith
Dr. Charles Yusuph Ntigwaza from Tanzania shared Assessing the relationship between Short Rain Season Rainfall and Indian Ocean Dipole in Recent Decades over Tanzania Following the 2011 Abrupt Change. All participants discussed the impact of climate change on Tanzania, particularly focusing on rainfall patterns and temperature changes.
Dr. Charles Yusuph Ntigwaza
Ms. MOHAMADI Mouna to give us the presentation focused on the Mediterranean Sea and its Influence on Algeria's Climate. The presentation mainly discussed how the Mediterranean Sea surface temperatures affect Algeria’s temperature, precipitation, and seasonal climate variability, and the potential future impacts of Mediterranean climate changes on Algeria.
Ms. MOHAMADI Mouna
Mr. Awad Hussien Ahmed MoHammed. His topic is Examine the Role of Indo-Pacific Sea Surface Temperatures in Recent Meteorological Drought in Sudan. The presentation discussed the impact of weather conditions on Sudan's climate and economy , particularly focusing on rainfall and its implications for agriculture.
Mr. Awad Hussien Ahmed MoHammed
The ODC center will continue to provide the platform for young marine scientists to have in-depth communication and effective discussion on their perspectives and research progress on marine science development through the organization of various Forum activities. For the events that will follow, the ODC center will make full preparations in terms of the optimization of network platform, selection of topics and exhibition of outcomes, trying to offer an audio-visual banquet for young researchers in the field of ocean and climate.
